Some of the coolest outdoor spaces in the American West are now open for business as part of a new concept from Open Venues—think Airbnb, but for rare and unique venues. An ochre-hued sandstone cave in Moab might be the ideal setting for your rehearsal dinner or maybe opt for a lavender meadow near the Mogollon Rim in northern Arizona. The platform—which is the first of its kind—connects users with unique historic properties and outdoor landscape settings for hosting everything from a corporate event to a private wedding. The current collection of 25 venues is concentrated in the American West, but plans are in the works to take the offerings nationwide. Below are some of the coolest options in their portfolio:
Malibu Hilltop/Malibu, California—(pictured above) Enjoy your own private slice of Malibu and Southern California’s most-coveted coastline with this stunning setting located on private property.
Moab Caves/Moab, Utah—You’ll start your journey to this marvelously private and enchanting venue with an off-road jeep ride. Once inside the red-walled sandstone cave, which is circular in shape, guests will spend the evening in a magical event backdrop unlike any other.
Pine Lavender/Pine, Arizona—Set in a quiet community known for its high-country climate and scenic outdoor landscape, the Lavender Farm Venue brings a slice of Provence to the moment thanks to acres of fragrant lavender fields.
Reserve at Red Rock/Las Vegas, Nevada—Not to be confused with the Red Rocks music venue in Colorado, this outdoor setting is just a bit north of Las Vegas but remote enough to make the city seem a thousand miles away. Here you’ll be tucked into the embrace of towering sandstone peaks, impressive canyons and unique red rock formations.
Sandra Day O’Connor House/Tempe, Arizona—This mid-century property was once the home of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, the first woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. Soaked in history as well as scenery, the home has oversized windows that overlook the surrounding desert and the expansive outdoor living spaces feature inviting patios and terraces, and a desert garden of native plants and cacti.
The Icehouse /Phoenix, Arizona—Make a statement by hosting your event in this historic building’s striking, open-air cathedral room. Located in the historic warehouse district of downtown Phoenix, this unique space brings industrial chic to the experience—from its brilliant white walls to its impressive concrete columns to its show-stopping sunset mural.
Saguaro Basin/Scottsdale, Arizona—Let Arizona’s legendary and iconic cacti set the stage for your next shindig. The Arizona desert is defined as the exclusive home to the majestic saguaro cactus, and the Saguaro Basin venue celebrates their rare beauty in spectacular fashion.
