American Airlines is on track to be the first U.S. carrier to provide nonstop service between New York and Tokyo. Flying Direct From New York To Tokyo
Pending final review from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), American Airlines is the only domestic airline offering direct flights between New York City (JFK) and Tokyo Haneda (HND). The carrier will provide one daily flight year-round on a Boeing 777-200.
The proposed departure from New York is 10:00 a.m. and arrives at 1:05 p.m. (next day). Flights from Tokyo depart at 3:05 p.m. and arrive at JFK Airport at 3:10 p.m.
This nonstop route complements existing flights offered by their partner airline, Japan Airlines.
Tulum Service Expansion
Starting on March 28, 2024, American will begin offering four daily flights from the mainland United States to Tulum, Mexico (TQO):
- Charlotte (CLT): One daily year-round flight
- Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW): Two daily year-round flights
- Miami (MIA): Two daily year-round flights
Flights are available for purchase beginning November 13, 2023, for these new flights to Tulum. These flights utilize the Boeing 737 fleet, offering all passengers high-speed WiFi, streaming entertainment, and in-seat power.
More Daily Flights To The Caribbean
In addition to daily service to Tulum, American is offering more daily flights between Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth, Miami, and several of the best Caribbean destinations.
For instance, there are three daily flights now between Miami and Providenciales, Turks and Caicos (PLS). Several other destinations have twice-daily flights starting on June 5, 2024. Full details are available here.
