Edgar Wright’s adaptation of Stephen King/Richard Bachman’s 1982 novel, The Running Man, is sprinting ahead with its casting.
We already knew that Glen Powell is starring as the titular man who is running, that Lee Pace is playing the main hunter in the murderous reality show hunting Powell down, and that Josh Brolin is taking on the role of the producer behind the whole thing. We even knew of more additional cast members, including Daniel Ezra and Katy O’Brian.
We’ve now got one more actor to add to the list. Today, Deadline broke the news that Colman Domingo is on board to play the host of the show where contestants fight to the death, with Powell’s Ben Richards joining the fray to raise money for his sick daughter.
In the 1987 film adaptation that featured Arnold Schwarzenegger as Richards, the host was played by the scene-stealing Richard Dawson. And while Deadline reports that Brolin will take on the role of the main villain in Wright’s version, there’s no doubt that Domingo’s host will be a nefarious counterweight to Richards trying to stay alive.
Domingo’s previous credits include playing Victor Strand in Fear The Walking Dead (pictured above), Private Harold Green in Lincoln, and Ali on Euphoria, the last of which earned him an Emmy. He also stars in (and is racking up award nominations for) Sing Sing, and will be voicing Norman Osborn in the upcoming animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
The Running Man premieres in theaters on November 7, 2025.
