Colorado BioScience Association is a not-for-profit corporation providing services and support for Colorado’s growing biosciences industry. Colorado is carrying out an aggressive plan to grow the state’s bioscience industry into one of the country’s premier bioscience clusters. CBSA currently enjoys the support of more than 400 member organizations representing both bioscience companies and companies providing key services to the bioscience industry and research institutions in Colorado. The association’s main office is located in the Advance Colorado Center, 1625 Broadway, Suite 950, in Denver, plus satellite offices are maintained in the Fitzsimons Bioscience Park and the Fort Collins Technology Incubator. Dr. Bernstein replaces Colorado Governor Bill Ritter for the Thursday luncheon address. The Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA) commends Governor Ritter for crafting an economic development agenda for 2008 that will spur the creation of new bioscience companies and help the state retain the 400 plus companies that exist today. Colorado BioScience Association Names Jack Wheeler Chairperson, Announces 2007 Sponsors and Appoints Eight New Board Members Jack Wheeler, CEO of MicroPhage, Inc., Longmont, is the new chairperson of the board of directors for the Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA). He was appointed at the association’s 2007 annual meeting April 24th. Wheeler assumes chairperson responsibilities from Ed Wood, ArcScan, Inc. Two Colorado bioscience legislative initiatives are included in the national BIO “State Legislative Best Practices in Support of Bioscience Industry Development,” report issued late last year for state legislation promoting growth of bioscience clusters in 2005-06. About Jack Wheeler, CBSA Board Chair

Jack Wheeler holds more than 30 years of business experience in the biomedical and clinical diagnostics field. Prior to founding MicroPhage Inc., Wheeler founded Xtrana, Inc., a molecular diagnostics company specializing in nucleic acid extraction and detection.

About Denise Brown, CBSA Executive Director

Brown joined the Colorado Biotechnology Association (CBA) in August 2002. In 2003, a merger with the Colorado Medical Device resulted in the creation of the Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA). She brings 27 years of experience to the position of Executive Director of the CBSA. She worked for the Colorado General Assembly in 1976 and 1977. From 1977 through 1984, she worked for the Governor of Colorado in three different senior staff positions, including Director of the Governor?s Job Training Office. During her 17 years at the University of Colorado (1984 ? 2001), Brown led major projects such as the corporate reorganization of University Hospital in the late 1980's, the transfer of the School of Pharmacy from the Boulder to the Health Sciences Center Campus, and the Fitzsimons Master Plan. She served as Chief of Staff to the President of CU for four years during her tenure at the University. A Wyoming native whose family relocated to Colorado in 1960, Brown attended the University of Denver where she received a B.A. degree. She is married to Douglas G. Brown and they have two adult children.
